The villagers who have lived there just avoid it; daring travellers would drop by to admire the size of the supposedly still statue and then leave. Scholars have studied the glyphs on the stone and think they are decorative, or otherwise undecipherable. The giant was found when an earthquake shook the region about five years ago, revealing a colossal giant of stone, humanoid in nature, buried into the side of the mountain itself. It is large – each legs is about the size of a guard tower. Then one day it moves, and begin to march across the countryside.
- An order of artificer has built this gigantic automaton eons ago, but had never got it to work. Recently, a young artificer by the name of Mavon found the ancient plans to this automaton, and upon studying it, found a way to breath life into the giant. He tracked down the giant, implement his changes and the giant begin to march. Unfortunately, Mavon was killed, thinking that he had total control over the automaton. If the adventurers could find the remains of Mavon, find his lab, they may be able to find a way to stop the automaton. The motive of the automaton depends on the artificers who had built him, and is up to the GM to decide.
- The giant seems to have been called, and is heading in a particular direction. Along the way, it would smash down standing stones left by a far older civilisation. This gigantic stone golem was called into service in a war long ago; one faction, to protect themselves, begin to build magical wards in form of those stones which would nullify their enemy’s magic. Needless to say, the golem’s order was to destroy those wardings. However, this has been thousands of years ago. All these information can be gleamed by exploring the cavern from which the golem has emerged. But beware; once the golem knows that intruders are in its masters’ lair, it will return to crush the intruders. The adventurers may also use those stones to predict where the giant stone golem will go next to set up a trap
- The giant of stone needs to rest at night (it will just freeze still once the sun has set) and adventurers would be able to find a trap door near the ankle which would allow them to enter. Inside is a maze of stone passageways and halls. This is more than just a weapon of destruction; it is also a citadel! The adventurers may come across the dead bodies of those who once dwell there. They all have became ghosts and possessed the gigantic stone golem! The adventurers could either try to get an exorcism rite performed, or find out what the ghosts want so that they could rest in peace.
