Welcome to part 6 of 101 forms of a dungeon. My apologies that it has taken so long; starting a new work and doing numerous freelances as well as a sudden new-found love for Star Trek: Voyager is sapping up my time. It is getting harder to come up with new ideas, especially when I have to make sure that none of them are repeats:
- Petrified Battlefield: An entire battle field, along with soldiers, horses, siege machines, are all turned to stone in mid battle.
- Gypsy Barricade: Traveling around in wagons, the gypsies would use them to form protective walls around their communal and living areas. This is one large gathering, and strangely despite the large number of wagons, there isn’t anyone around.
- Innards of a Geyser. The geyser erupts once every hour; during the time in-between, it is possible to slip down to a ledge which leads deeper into the earth. Watch out for pools of hot water, whirlpools and blow holes though!
- Ice Palace: A palace craved out from frozen ice and crystals. Shimmering reflections make it hard to find one’s way through and sometimes though you can see through the walls to your objective, you can’t just reach it…
- Carnivorous Garden: What seems to be a simple walk in the park takes on a different turn when the plants turned out to be carnivorous. Stay on the path and you’ll be fine…
- Chapel of Bone: An architect with a twisted sense of design has built an entire chapel out from all sort of bones, from humans to beasts of burden, from a wyvern to even a dragon.
- An abandoned dwarven forge.
- A Tower without Stairs Leading Down. The party may have been teleported there or arrived there through magical means. There are no stairs leading down to each level of the staircase, though there are windows for each level. The party must figure out how do go all the way down to the ground level.
- Spider’s Lair: A colony of giant spiders have weave their lair with spider web and they are strong enough for humans to walk on. Those spiders are communal in nature, and form bridges to each of their “web” within the cave. Beware though, some webs are non-sticky, while others are designed to snare dinners.
- Mountain Cliff: Treacherous ledges, narrow walkways and steep climbs challenge the adventurers, while mysteries await them in various small caves and alcoves.
