Along the coastline of a certain sea, where scattered and isolated fishing villages may be found, there is whispers of a certain individual called the Singer of Storms. He is wrapped in top to bottom with thick linen garments, over which he would dress as a sailor or a fisherman. It seems that his skins are lumpy, his eyes wide and deep green and a certain smell of salt-water permeates him. When the Singer of Storms come, say the fishermen, the village headman is to welcome him to his abode and treat him well, with meals of fresh fish and the best ale, lest he sings up a storm which would wreck the sea for days.
- The Singer of Storms is actually an Air and Water Elementalist who is totally consumed by his study of the elements. He seeks the origin of winds and storms, and his coming is to herald that a great storm is on the way. He did not bring the storm; rather, where the storm is, he seeks it. At times, when the fire burns bright enough and he recalls memories of his life as a mortal, he would take pity on the fisherman and call the storm away. One day, however, the Singer of Storms appears at the gate of a large inland city…could a storm possibly wreck there?
- There is no one Singer of Storms, but actually dozens. They are acolytes of a storm cult, whose forbidding temple could be found within a cove within an isolated bay. Those Singers solicit donations in exchange for keeping the coast clear and their demands are simple – every twelve years a child must be given to them and they will be dedicated to the seas, and they will become the next coven of Singers. However, recently, the Signers of Storms have not been visiting the villages, and storms wreck the coast. What could have happened to them? The fishermen are too scared to find out, but the adventurers may not be. After all, there has been a reward to put an end to a most unnatural storm that has kept even the largest ships at port…could the Singers of Storms know something?
- The beaches of the coastline are dotted with ruined temples and broken sea walls, indications that there was once a thriving city there. The Singer of Storms was once from that city, and in the bargain with the demons who cast down the ancient city in a terrible storm, takes on his loathsome guise to gain immortality and power over the element of air and water. His purpose? All that he held dear was destroyed in the wake of the storm, and he waited to avenge himself on the Reaver of the Deep, who called forth the demons in the first place. Relentless he sought the Reaver; where dark storm clouds gathered he would be there and if no storms gathered he would call forth one, hopefully that the sea would bring his foe to him. That would have gone on forever if not the Singer of Storm has managed to discover a lost tablet upon which an ancient spell was inscribed. One that would drain the ocean of all its water and flung it upon the land. This time, for sure, the Singer of Storms would find his nemesis…
