• The adventurers, throughout their journey, has chanced upon a merchant who dares to bring his business to dangerous and hostile regions, as long as men (nay, anyone!) willing to trade dwells there. Now the adventurers are seasoned and experience, the merchant has a proposal – the adventurers would be the captains of his caravans, charting the route, looking to the defense and finding new opportunities. In exchange, the merchant would provide a steady income, a share of the profit and a stab at high-powered politics if they become successful together. Sounds like a neat plan, no?

    1. How many times have the PCs been guard on caravans? Now they have the chance to lead one, would they be able to avoid the pitfalls which their former employers have fell into? Who would be the guards? What would be the route? Should the PCs raid the raiders before they set upon the Caravans? Can they make use of their prior contacts to ensure a smooth delivery? The possibilities are endless!
    2. The merchant is trading more than just grocery and luxury goods; he’s dealing with relics, magical artefacts and dangerous relics that attract attention of the really unwanted type. There’s the Church to avoid, the prying scholar to fend off and a couple of warlocks riding on their winged steeds to fight off. And who would the players deal with once they have arrived at their destination? The merchant don’t care, as long as the PCs make a big impact (and profit) off the goods.
    3. Is this deal too good to be true? Why won’t the merchant be afraid if the PCs take off with their goods? What will happen if the PCs do try that? Perhaps the buyer is a powerful and dangerous person (being?) to be angered. Perhaps the merchant has an ace up his sleeves. Maybe the goods that the PCs are protecting and leading the caravans on are not of interest to any living mortal…if the PCs do run away with them, they would be hard-pressed to find a new potential and interested buyer…but what if one, other than the original intended one, turns up half-way?
