• The small family of a freeman has been accused of being in league with the Devil. A gargoyle has attacked a group, consisting of the bailiff and a few guards, when the creature of stone attacks the party. The freeman deny all innocence – how would he be able to bring forth such a creature? Meanwhile, a group of witch-hunters study the situation calmly, determined to put the man and his family to the death if the claims can be substantiated.

    1. The great grand-father of the family used to be a sorcerer, and came across a wounded gargoyle at the ruins of an old wizard’s tower. The sorcerer tended to the wounds of the gargoyle and it became his familiar. In order to hide from his enemies whom he had made while adventuring, he seeks the approval of the creature if it would accept a geas to protect his family. Out of loyalty, the familiar agrees. It had never have to act till recently, when the bailiff and the guards began to exort money secretly. The gargoyle, percieving (correctly) that the family is in danger, attacked those men. This may however bring forth more troubles…
    2. The youngest child of the family has the potential to become a sorcerer, but he is unschooled in magic. The gargoyle used to be the familiar of a powerful wizard, but the wizard was killed when adventurers stormed his tower. Wandering, the gargoyle found the child and took to it, for even though he has the potential to be a powerful sorcerer, he is at this point still innocent and pure. The witch-hunters are have heard rumors of strange disturbances in the area (due to the child) and have came to investigate. They pin-point the child as the source of the strange events lately, and use the guards to force the gargoyle into showing itself.
    3. The gargoyle is not in so much interest of protecting the family but the rather the grave of its former master. The crafty sorcerer, knowing that if he interned himself and his treasures at a tomb, or within his wizard, it would be sacked and looted by thieves or adventurers. Hence he bought a plot of land, and descended into a specially prepared underground complex to await his death. The gargoyle is set to guard the ‘tomb’. The witch-hunters are oblivious to this fact; but the gargoyle thought that they are a threat and decide to attack them while they were disguised as guards. However, the gargoyle failed to kill them; one escaped and have stirred up the poplace against an innocent family. There is just one thing though: why does a dead wizard wants to protect himself?
