The First Disciple of the North Cave Mystic said thus to the Second Disciple: “You have the Supreme Gameplay, I have the Supreme Code. You and me are destined for greatness. We should work together and who in the world of games can defy us?”

The Second Disciple agreed, and the two of them moved inwards into the Tianshan Mountains for solitude and silence. Work began in earnest, with the First Disciple immediately beginning to scribe code with his Perfect Art of Ones and Zeros Ordering and the Second Disciple putting together the Ultimate Expression of a Game.

And ultimate it was! A war-game which employed the doctrines of Sun Tzu so perfectly, in a manner so approachable, yet deep and profound at the same time that if the War Sage himself was still alive, he probably would have wept with joy. The First Disciple accepted the Bamboo Rolls upon which the game design were inscribed with trembling hands and with flowing tears, so touched was he and then vowed to realise the visions of the Second Disciple.

With many farewells and much parting tears, the two Disciples went back to their hovels, separated by the great Mirror Lake. For the next three months, they worked hard. The First Disciple scribed code, while the Second Disciple sought to perfect the game design, achieving perfect harmony of Sky, Time and Man.

After three months, the Second Disciple visited the First Disciple, and saw that he had implemented a forest growing simulation, a perfect weather prediction system, trees which sway in an invisible virtual wind, rivers which shimmered and have fishes swimming along its swift currents and clouds casting shadows but none of the gameplay. Timidly, the Second Disciple asked when the game-play will be added.

Angrily the First Disciple waved away the Second Disciple’s objections. “It will go in eventually, right after I manage to get that volcano to throw the most perfect eruption ever”
