Located within the remote mountains, reachable only by paved roads now ruptured by weeds and wild flowers, is a narrow neck through a towering cliff. Dug around the entrance of the pass is a shallow trench, and many spears are planted into them, their tip black with dried blood.
- A pious band of knights and priests were putting an end to a great evil, soulless in nature. They wound the hideous creature greatly but the chase took them across the harsh mountainous landscape. The chase consumed much of their supply and when the creature retreated into hiding through the narrow pass, the knights realised that they would not be able to take down the creature, nor were they survive the return trip if they were to gather reinforcements. In an act of sacrifice, the priests and knights all martyred themselves upon their own weapons, using it to form a barrier of relics which trap the soulless creature within. One of them was appointed to travel back, with the remaining pooled rations and water, to seek help. However, he went craven and upon reaching civilisation, simply disappeared.
- The barrier marks the boundary between two ancient civilisation, a race of proud dwarfs and a stone/bronze age kingdom that proceeded the current one hundreds of decades ago. The spears and other weapons mark the site of a battle which was fought over a week before the two groups came to a truce. If the boundary is ever shifted, the dwarves would consider the treaty broken. Alas, foolhardy explorers, seeking gold, has came upon this very mountain pass…
- Beyond the narrow pass lies a tranquil glade where great concentration of enegries dwell. Mystics and other who cultivate the power of their minds call those places foci. A Mystic whose acts were evil and commited great crime retreated there to reach adepthood, and the weapons which now form a barrier around the pass were those of his foes who sought to slay him! Ironically, the very hatred of his enemies and the heinous nature of his crimes caused karma to turn against the mystic, such that those weapons now act as a supernatural barrier against him. But yet as the Mystic mediates on, his power increases, and soon he would be able to touch the dreams of others…
