    Downloads, Fate Fantasy 31.01.2009 No Comments

    Fate Fantasy is a modification to Fate 3.0 for a fantasy-based setting.

    The PDFs below are a rules modification for Fate 3.0 (the rule-set behind Spirit of the New Century – from Evil Hat Productions). These rules are more suitable for a sword and sorcery style of game. Currently, they are still pretty raw, unformatted but functional. There has been a single play-test and tweaks are still being made to it.

    Here’s how a Fire Elementalist’s airspells can be modified.

    Cutting Powers of the Mind: Increase Reflexes, instead of Intelligence, to 18 (increase to 19 if it was already 18).

    Stargaze [Starfire] : Has a AF of 2 against fire-based spells and attacks.

  • Uncollected Dues

    The lord of a large but sparsely populated fief (mainly due to steep hills and thick forest) has a headache. His bailiffs have reported difficulty in collecting taxes from the serfs and freemen and recently, some of them have disappeared, along with bodyguards. Fearing a peasant revolt, the lord has ask for succor and the adventurers got wrapped into it.

  • Serving the Serfs

    The serfs from a small fiefdom have been disappearing. The lord has issued a call for investigation but his own knights have not been able to uncover the reasons. Suspecting sorcery, the nobleman asks the adventurers (which may include a sorcerer) to look into the matter.

  • Bastard Sword [The Grief of Shame]

    Weapons of Woe 29.01.2009 No Comments

    The story goes that due to a bitter feud between a knight and a sorcerer over a lady whom they love, the two challenged each other to a duel – with the sorcerer promising that he would not use magic. However, the knight doubted the promise. Knowing that he would never have any chance against the sorcerer’s spells,  the knight sought a blade which would ward him from magic. Having found one, he then met the magus for the match. To the knight’s surprise, the sorcerer fought fair and square with no magic and was beaten soundly. However, the knight was shamed by his own action and became a hermit instead.

    The sword was changed by the event and is now known as The Grief of Shame.

  • Alternatives to use of Raw Power in Dragon Warriors

    The new edition of Dragon Warriors give a powerful “blast” ability to all elemenatlists – for every 1 MP spent, they got to do a blast which does 2d6 points of damage. Checking the stats of an average PCs as given in the book, a 12th rank Knight has 24 Hit Points. A 3-MP blast from an elementalist does 6d6 points of damage. Clearly the damage is off the charts!
    What this article proposes is a re-balancing of the raw elemental blast power for the Elementalist. Read more…
